MTL LAUNCHES UNLIMITED INTERNET ACCESS FOR NIGHT TIME SURFING.

On Saturday 13th February 2016 MTL launched MiNITE, a new data bundle for night-time customers. The launch was at a colourful function at Blantyre Sports Club during “The Chairman’s Valentine Golf” Cup.

MTL, being The Chairman’s Cup’s headline sponsor, launched the new bundle during the evening’s Dinner and Dance prize presentation. MTL’s Chief Commercial Officer, Gladson Kuyeri, explained some of the features and benefits of the MiNITE (pronounced my night) Bundle.

“There was feedback from our customers that demand still exists for an unlimited option for Internet access. The introduction of MTL’s MiNITE bundle will allow us to cater to these customers who required affordable, high volume Internet usage without compromising on speed and quality,” he said.

Commenting on the new product MTL’s Head of Marketing, Chimwemwe Khonje, confirmed that like other bundles customers can purchase this one using the prepaid portal on the MTL website or in any MTL Service Centre.

“The MiNITE bundle allows our customers to have unlimited, high quality, high speed broadband Internet with speeds of up to 10 Mbps from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. The bundle has a validity of 30 days and also comes with 5GB data allowance for daytime usage. The MiNITE bundle costs K30, 000 only,” he said.

The bundle can be accessed by MTL Internet Customers in the consumer market segment using either WiMax, EVDO Routers and Dongles, as well as ADSL connectivity.

In December 2014 Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) commissioned a new charging system that allowed it to offer its services based on customer usage. As a result of this, the charging for retail Internet was moved from time based, where a customer paid a flat fee for a given period of say one month, to usage based where the customer could subscribe to a variety of data bundles. This migration in charging systems has proven to be successful as currently over 90% of MTL’s retail customers are accessing the Internet through bundle subscription.
