MTL wins “Best Exhibitor” award at 2016 Trade Fair
The 28th edition of the Malawi International Trade Fair saw MTL’s display win the “Best Exhibitor” award in the Service Sector category at the annual event which took place at the Trade Fair Grounds in Blantyre from 17th to 29th May 2016.
Receiving the award on behalf of MTL was Chief Executive Officer Dr Harry Gombachika who congratulated his team for the good work that had received such recognition and described the achievement as a testament to the hard-working spirit of MTL employees and the vision of the company.
“The Telecommunications sector is dynamic and innovation is an integral part of self-improvement that ensures that the company remains relevant. In that regard, MTL believes in innovation and is working to provide Malawians with quality products and services for everyday use. This award demonstrates how much dedication we are putting into innovation and the tireless efforts our employees are investing in providing quality products and services,” he said.
MTL faced good competition from the Department of Tourism and the Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM) with the former emerging first runner up and the latter second runner up in the category. MTL also won second place in the “Overall Best Exhibitor” category which was won by the Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) with the Department of Tourism emerging second runner up.
MTL’s Marketing Officer who worked, with Joshua Ngalande Engineer IP Data, on the display that gained the recognition was ecstatic about the award.
“It is rewarding to see all the hard work we put into preparations for the fair pay off in such a big way and when you look at the competition we had this year it’s an unbelievable achievement and we hope to do better next year,” she said.
According to the MCCCI award criteria the assessment of exhibitors took into consideration the External and Internal appearance of the Exhibition Booth; the Presentation of the products or services; Marketing techniques used for the products or services; Originality of the product or services; and Management of the stand.
This year’s event was themed “Achieving competitiveness through innovation” and it attracted some of the best brands locally and some international ones as well.
