Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) continues to fulfil its corporate social responsibility commitment in Malawi with a donation of 50 Pupils Desks valued at MK500, 000.00 to Zolozolo Primary School in the City of Mzuzu.

Making the donation, MTL Head of Maintenace (North), Joseph Bambi said his company is committed to assisting Government and the society in uplifting education standards as stipulated in its CSR Policy.

“MTL understands that Government alone cannot provide all the neccesities in education. This is why we are gathered here today to witness a milestone donation of 50 desks that will see Zolozolo relieved from some of its difficulties,” said Bambi.

Joseph Bambi went further to highlight that MTL will continue donating pupils’ desk in all the regions of Malawi in the year 2011.

Accepting the donation on behalf of Zolozolo Primary School, Mzuzu District Education Manager, Anne Sichinga, said that with high pupils’ populatation in the city’s schools, the desk to pupil ratio is staggering at 1:14, a situtation she said forces most of the pupils to sit on the floor during classes and also hinders education.

She thanked MTL for the timely donation to the cluster centres which carters for more than 5 schools during examinations times.

“MTL continues to amaze us. They are really committed to assisting us, their customers, and we are so thankful for their commitment to education in Malawi which we have witnessed today with the 50 desks donation to Zolozolo Primary School,” said Sichinga.
