MTL holds Strategy Review Meeting

Executive Management, Heads of Departments, and some managers held a strategic plan review meeting on 4th and 5th August 2016 at Ryalls Hotel in Blantyre.

The meetings were primarily held to determine and discuss progress on the corporate strategy as well as divisional strategic plans (i.e. Administration, Commercial, Technical and Finance) which feed into the overall MTL Strategy.

MTL Chief Technical Officer, Herbert Maosa who is championing the strategy implementation for the second half of 2016 said the review meetings were aimed at revisiting the strategy plan to determine and review what has worked and what has not and make the necessary changes to suit the current business environment.

“Our main focus is to have a general overview of the strategic plan and progress on the strategic pillars.  We will review the strategy in relation to the strategy management and implementation tools like balance scorecard and the performance dashboard, said Maosa.

He added that the reconditions made at the end of the meetings would be consolidated to form the short, medium and long term action plans.

The MTL Strategic Plan is expected to guide the company’s goals and how to achieve them and as such Business positioning; business growth (revenue and profitability); operational efficiency and effectiveness and human capital development were also discussed at the meetings.

The meetings centred not only on measuring success against failure but also sought to make the divisional contributions relevant to the ever-changing economic, social, and technological environment.
