Malawi’s pioneer in the fixed line telecommunication, Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) has announced an extension of its SMS facility to Airtel customers. This means that MTL customers can now send and receive SMS’s to TNM, Acess and Airtel customers at only MK9 per message. This is with effect from 30th May, 2011.
Making the announcement, MTL’s Communications Manager, Chifundo Scott said his company decided to extend its SMS facility connection to all mobile and fixed line networks in Malawi so as to give its customers a more convinient means of connecting to family and friends who are also on other networks.
“MTL continues to excite and create ease in communication to its cuctomers by now extending its SMS facility to Airtel customers. This now means that MTL customers can send and receive text messages from TNM, Access and Airtel customers,” said Scott.
Formerly MTL customers were only sending text messages to MTL and TNM and Access customers at MK6 and MK9 respectively.
Scott further added, “This value added service is offered to MTL customers at an affordable rate of MK6.00 when sending on net messages and MK9 to other networks”.
